hp 1300 will copy but will act like it is printing your doc but no print appears on page

my hp 1300 will print on copy when I use the copy function button but when I try to print from a office doc the printer acts like it is printing a document in Open Office ORG but no print appears on the page. What do I need to do to make the print appear? I have tried to print a word doc and a spreed sheet, the printer acts like it is printing in both situations but the page is passed through the printer and is ejected blank.

Hi Julian

Does this only happen with OpenOffice.org? Can you, for instance, print this web page or a plain text document in the Text Editor (gedit).

Can you please tell us the versions of Ubuntu and OpenOffice.org you are using.

Try downloadig and installing the latest HPLIP from the HPLIP site. Should help

It's also an HP PSC 1300. An HP 1300 is just a printer.

Yes I know but you wrote in your question:

The HP 1300 is ONLY a printer, If yuo read your link you willl see yours is a HP PSC 1300 Series which is a completely DIFFERENT product. The bit to note is "PSC" which makes it DIFFERENT. Am HP 1300 is NOT an HP PSC 1300 which is exactly what I meant.
