Histogram of categorical data

Asked by Paulo Bandiera Paiva

Hello, sorry for the simple question...
How do I make a histogram of categorical data in Openoffice Calc?

For example, a table with one column:

A
A
A
A
B
B
C

Should give me a chart with 3 columns of size 4, 2 and 1.
Thank you

I don't think you can create a histogram directly from the data. You need to count the occurrences of each value first, then chart the counts.

I can send you a spreadsheet of how I have done this using the DCOUNTA function, if you want. Just click on my name above this box and on the left of the page for me you will see a link 'Contact this User'. Use that to send me your email address.

You may be able to find a more elegant way of doing this!

Tony
