Hi Judy

To reveal a column that has been hidden, highlight the columns either side of it and do Format > Column > Show. For instance, if column C is hidden, highlight columns B and D and do Format > Column > Show.

I would need more details on the problem adding a column including a description of your spreadsheet and where and how you are trying to add the column.

merged and hidden are two different things. merged cells are visible.

to unmerge them, click on the merged cell then click on the icon that is just to the right of the full justify icon. if it indeed is merged, the merge icon should show as yellow.

to unmerge a column, click on the left column that is merged, then click the merge icon.

you can easily find out which columns are merged by going into a row and start from the left side, move across the columns. when you hit a cell that spans two columns, that is the merged column.
