chinese open office installation issue

I am trying to install open office in chinese for school. i have gone through all the steps of extracting the tar.gz file i got from openoffice.com but for some reason my computer doesn't recognize the ./configure command. i have done the apt-file and the apt-file update commands and they work, but i can't use ./configure so i can make the file and install it. it says "No such file or directory" every time i type it in. i have kept the extracted files from the tar.gz in a folder on my desktop called chinese. that is the folder i navigate to when doing these commands.
any help would be much appreciated thanks.

or if there is an easier way to do this, i am up for that as well.
i also downloaded a deb version of the file, but there are so many deb's in the extracted folder that i don't know which one to use.
