How do you put normal pagenumbers on documents?

Asked by Freja Grandjean

I cannot put normal pagenumbers on my documents. I write in Ubuntus OpenOffice.org Word Processor, and I have tried to find help in: Insert -> Fields -> Page number. What happens is: a number is placed at my first page.
The same thing happens when I try other combinations of Insert and Format.
The problem must be very simple but I cannot find the solution.

Hi Freja

If you just do Insert -> Fields -> Page number, you will get the current page number at that position in the document.

If you want the page number shown for each page, the usual way is to enable headers or footers (depending on whether you want the page number at the top or bottom of the page) then use Insert -> Fields -> Page number to put the page number in the header or footer. You will then get the page number on each page.

Hope that helps

Tony
