Spanish Thesaurus

Asked by William Pabon

I could not find a Spanish Thesaurus at the Synaptic Package Manager. Is there one for Ooo 3.2?

Hmm... I do not see Spansih thesaurus in Ubuntu's repository. There are Spanish dictionaries that checks your ortography.

I found a project that is trying to create Spanish thesaurus at
http://openthes-es.berlios.de/

You can download Spanish thesaurus from there and install it as an Extension.

You can download dictionaries from http://extensions.services.openoffice.org:80/en/dictionaries

Jose:

I already downloaded the extensions that you suggested on: http://openthes-es.berlios.de/ but it does not activiate the Thesaurus feature on Writer, (Alt + F7 is still greyed out). I downloaded two spanish dictionaries (for testing) that supposedly have thesaurus, but it doesn't work. Incidentally, the Thesaurus works OK with English. Thanks for the help.

Problem was solved. A guy from Spain told me that in order for the Thesaurus be active, the language of the dictionary/thesaurus used has to be exactly the same as the language used in writing the document. I was writing a document with Spanish-Costa Rica, but using the dictionary/thesaurus of Spanish-Argentina. When I changed my document language to Spanish-Argentina the thesaurus was active.

Hello William Pabon.
I'm glad to read that your problem has been solved.

I have never used Spanish thesaurus in OpenOffice.org until now.
Thanks to you I have tried it. And I am happy to announce that it is working for me as well.
