Math option to type formula is not activated in my open office. What should I do to use this function?

I want to type some formulas in my document. When I tried to launch the formula option using Insert>Object>Formula, it is seen that Formula is not active and cannot be taken. How can I resolve this issue to start using formula option?

Hi

Do you mean that when you try to use Insert>Object>Formula, the Formula option is greyed out so you cannot click on it?

This happens in certain situations, such as when you are editing the properties of a frame, because the formula editor needs to create a frame to contain the formula.

If you are not in a position to enter new text (i.e you do not have the flashing cursor) Open Office cannot create the frame for the formula.
