Writer: problems with Index and footnotes

Asked by pinguino_skipper

Hi, I have some problem using Alphabetic Index: I don't know if I can't understand properly which options I have to set, or if is a sort of bug (or function not implemented yet)

The problem: when I add an Index entry, selecting "Apply to all the similar texts", Writer finds only the entries which are in the main text, but doesn't check the footnotes. In fact, it seems impossible to create index entries in the footnotes anyhow...

Exemple: the text is speaking about Churchill (p. 9 to 10), and in the footnotes (p. 11) I have a quotation from his memories (W. Churchill, The World Crisis, Vol. 3). The index could be:

Churchill, Winston, 9-10, 11n

but I have only:

Churchill, Winston, 9-10

I suppose it should exist some option as "Apply to all the similar texts IN THIS SECTION, IN THE WHOLE DOCUMENT, etc." but I can't find it...
Another problem with Index (I know: 1 post 1 question, but is more like a suggestion...): it is impossible to update the index searching if in the text they are new key-words similar to the entries already in the index (e.g. if I add a new chapter about Churchill I have to add again the entry, at least once to have the option "Apply to all the similar", it doesn't exist in the Edit entry window). it could be a dangerous option, but useful too if you are managing large texts...

Thank you very much!

PS: I'm working with the Italian packages of OpenOffice
