How can get rid of unwanted symbols all over all my word documents?

Asked by NancyG

In all my word documents, there are backward paragraph symbols at the end and beginnings of lines, and a dot between each and every word.
I don't know how they got there or what they're doing there.
What are they called?
How on earth do I get rid of them?
They won't delete, and I tried everything I can think of.
Help!
I'm a writer, and this has never happened to me before.

They're just symbols to indicate where you've pressed Space or Return, so, for example, you can see where you might have pressed space twice accidentally. They won't print out, but if you don't want to see them on screen either, they're easy enough to hide.

Go to the View menu, and click "Non-printing Characters" to remove the tick on its left. (Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+F10.)

Yes, I finally figured that out, last night. That worked. I found the Non-printing characters and just tried it and it worked. So simple. Don't know how I missed it before.
Thanks.
