Calc Formula - Determining amount of time elapsed

Asked by Joel Montes de Oca

I would like to know if I can determine how much time has past between two dates. For example 8/01/07 is 6 days ago from today (8/07/07)

I want to be able to do the following:

In one cell I type in a date and on a different cell, I want Calc to tell me how long ago it has been (it would have to take into account my current date). I would like to put 8/01/07 into one cell and have 6 pop out on an other cell.

How can this be done?

Hi:

have you tryed:
="8/01/07"-"08/07/07"

I'm not in front of my computer but I remember it being like that. Try setting the cell as number not as date.

That works but it gives me a werid answer.

Example ="08/06/07"-"08/07/07" spits out 12/29/99
and if I flip it around so it reads ="08/07/07"-"08/06/07" it spits out 12/31/99

Thats correct. To have the number of days you have to format your answer as number (not date).

Hi,
You can also use the built-in function named "DAYS" (Insert > Finction)
