documents with filenames in cyrillic can't be opened

Asked by pruhster

After upgrading to Lucid and the OOo 3.2 that came with it I can't open any office documents that have Cyrillic charecters in their path / names (including anything on the desktop which is /home/user/Плот on a system in Bulgarian). In nautilus everything looks fine but when I try to open a document i get an error that it doesn't exist. Within OOo's file browser folders and files in cyrillic are displayed with funny characters and can't be opened either (same error).

Any ideas?

This is a bug in openoffice. Bug #491347 seem to be the one.
