Can't change number of columns on different pages

I need to be able to produce a document with different numbers of columns in different places. For example I may set the page format to two columns and on page 15 I may need to change to a single column from about half way down the page and then change three columns half way down the page on page 17. Is this possible in Open Office or do I need to use another program?

Hi!
I don't know if it is possible with Open Office, but, if i were you, i better use Scribus, i think it's easier to deal with columns...
But you should know first that Scribus saves your document only in .pdf and .sla
You can install it using Synaptic and you may have a look to this site:
