How to get "OpenJDK 8u332" under Ubuntu 18.04, installed as default-jre-headless / openjdk-8-jre-headless from repo

Asked by Christoph Boers

Will the latest fixes for openjdk become part of Ubuntu 18.04, installed as default-jre-headless / openjdk-8-jre-headless from repo ?

Or is it recommended to install it manual. From here at example: https://packages.debian.org/stretch/openjdk-8-jre-headless

Mixing Debian and Ubuntu debs will give you a big mess. The dependencies will be different and you'll have a bad time

There is a PPA here
https://launchpad.net/~mirabilos/+archive/ubuntu/jdk?field.series_filter=bionic

Its packaged as is and comes with no assurances. I suggest a snapshot before installing then copious testing

Thanks for the fast respond. I think this will become a Good Solution. Alternative i test an upgrade to openjdk-11-jre-headless...

Capacity is limited and it may take some time until the new openjdk version is packaged.

The previous version 8u312-b07 was published on openjdk.java.net on October 19th 2021 and ended in a bionic package on December 17th, in fact two months.

Additional remark:
Meanwhile a new update OpenJDK 8u332 is in progress, https://wiki.openjdk.java.net/display/jdk8u/Main#Main-Timelines
Maybe it makes sense to skip 8u322 and directly jump to 8u332

Typing error where?

Bionic currently has only version 312, version 322 is overdue by months and version 332 is at the point of being published by openJDK.

Of me, what i want is upgrade to 332 :-) ... And not to 322 like in the headline of my question... I changed the headline now
