JRE encountering SIGFPE with pipewire(?) when starting modded minecraft

Asked by PennyJim

Whenever I start modded minecraft, it'll crash with a SIGFPE when it tries to play the little ding after forge starts.
I suspect it's a problem with it interacting with pipewire as I used to be able to work around this crash by leaving a discord voice call, restarting pipewire, starting the game (waiting for the ding), and then rejoining the voice call.

It now crashes regardless of if discord is open or not.

I've tried a few forge packs and they all crash. They might all have a mod in common, but I'm pretty sure it's the JRE since minecraft has its own crash handler that I would expect to be getting logs from insteadof the `hs_err_pid<pid>.log` logs I'm currently getting.
I'm using GDLauncher 2.0.20 (0509c3af66ca05d2d9fac156e4fe5295 if it matters, might be random)

I would attach a few of the logs, as well as an example modpack, but it looks like I have to submit it as a bug report (when I'm not even fully sure what's happening) in order to attach files.

Hi,

A bug report with logs attached would probably be the best option.

Best Regards,
 Vladimir.

I got help through another channel that had better search-fu than me.
I learned it was a libopenal issue and that it could be fixed with a line in `~/.alsoftrc`
