uninstall postgreSQL

am trying to install OpenERP on ubuntu and am having issues getting the correct procedure. It seems i goofed at setting up the PostgreSQL file and need to remove it totally and re-enter afresh; Any ideas out there?

     If you installed it from Synaptic, you should be able to right-click on it and select "Mark for Complete Removal".

Can you help with this problem?
