Request for OpenConnect Package Upgrade in Ubuntu 22.04 (Jammy)

Asked by Anilton Junior

Dear Maintainer,

I hope this message finds you well. I am currently using Ubuntu 22.04 (Jammy) and have been relying on the OpenConnect package for my network connectivity needs. I noticed that the current version of OpenConnect in the Jammy repositories is 8.20.1, and I am interested in upgrading to a newer version.

One of the critical issues I am facing is related to the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) mechanism sent by the server in HTML format. The current version of OpenConnect in the Jammy repositories seems to have difficulty properly analyzing and processing this type of MFA, leading to authentication failures. As MFA is becoming increasingly prevalent for secure network access, an upgrade to OpenConnect that addresses this issue would be highly beneficial.

Could you please provide information on the timeline for updating the OpenConnect package in the Jammy repositories? If an upgrade is not planned in the near future, is there a recommended procedure for requesting or suggesting package upgrades?

Your assistance is highly appreciated, and I look forward to your guidance on this matter.

Thank you,
Anilton Junior
