VMWare "Cycle multiple monitors" does not work after update to 16.04

Asked by cirrus

I just updated my VMWare machine to Ubuntu 16.04. Since the update I can only use a single monitor; the "Cycle multiple monitors" feature in VMWare player is not working anymore with open-vm-tools installed.
(Original VMWare tools cannot even scale the display resolution to fit the window size)

Known Issues

The following issues might occur in this version of VMware Workstation Pro.

After you exit full screen mode on a multi-monitor system, an Ubuntu 16.04 virtual machine does not refresh properly
On a system with more than one monitor connected, if an Ubuntu 16.04 virtual machine is in full screen mode, using all displays, the virtual machine does not refresh its display properly after you exit full screen mode.
Workaround: If you experience this issue on an Ubuntu 16.04 virtual machine, restart the virtual machine. If you want to switch the virtual machine to full screen mode, use a single display only.

Thanks for the information. This is not satisfactory; especially as I cannot find any hint, when VMWare will fix that. I will probably restore my 15.10-Backup to the VM.

Thanks, chicoff. That worked in 5mins for me. Sorry for the late response - I was on holidays. Now I am running:
