no thumbnails in my new system: ubuntu 12.04.1 64-bit

Asked by Sadi Yumuşak

I recently switched to a new, 64-bit system and did a fresh install of ubuntu 12.04.1 and I don't have thumbnails for odt, ops, etc. files any more.
I wonder if this is a bug or I'm missing something...

Yes, I have thumbnails for images, videos, html, exe files, etc.
The only thumbnails I have missing since the system change are txt files as well as all odt, ods, odp files...

Hi,

please try to move the folder .thumbnails ..

from a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+t) give this command

mv .thumbnails/ .thumbnails-old/ <== do not forget the dots front of word thumbnails , cuz is(are) hidden folder(s).

Then reboot (or logout - login ) and see if fixed.

Thanks

Hi ,
you said "Yes, I have thumbnails for images, videos, html, exe files, etc.

I think you have problem with icons and not thumbnails.

Try to change icon theme. Install a tool like myunity (are in Official repos) and try to change the icon theme.

Thanks

Thanks, I've already considered this possibility, but the only difference is in txt files (some icon themes display a thumbnail, some display a txt icon), odt files however are always displayed with an icon instead of thumbnail no matter which icon theme I use.
