If you report a bug stating the bug and security fixes in the newer version, it may be upgraded. A new package doesn't prompt an automatic package upgrade in the repos.

nah, i dont have any (visible) bug or problem with the software, its just because there is a newer version than packaged one.

You need not have a problem with the software.
Requests to get a new version of software packaged for Ubuntu are also made via the bug reporting tool.
