[Wallaby] /var/run/octavia empty

Asked by Jake Hill on 2021-06-10

Freshly installed with juju but this does not appear to me to be a charm thing.

systemctl status octavia-driver-agent shows as running but there are no files in /var/run/octavia. API calls are failing (disconnected with no response after timeout) with the following message in /var/log/apache2/octavia_error.log;

[Thu Jun 10 16:31:13.161370 2021] [wsgi:error] [pid 69637:tid 140418539751168] 2021-06-10 16:31:13.160 69637 ERROR octavia.api.drivers.driver_factory [-] Unable to load provider driver ovn due to: Unable to open the driver agent socket: /var/run/octavia/status.sock: octavia_lib.api.drivers.exceptions.DriverAgentNotFound: Unable to open the driver agent socket: /var/run/octavia/status.sock\x1b[00m

Indeed /var/run/octavia/status.sock is missing. Restart the service and files get populated;

ubuntu@juju-753140-2-lxd-3:~$ sudo ls -l /var/run/octavia/
total 0
ubuntu@juju-753140-2-lxd-3:~$ sudo systemctl restart octavia-driver-agent.service
ubuntu@juju-753140-2-lxd-3:~$ sudo ls -l /var/run/octavia/
total 0
srwxr-xr-x 1 octavia octavia 0 Jun 10 17:04 get.sock
srwxr-xr-x 1 octavia octavia 0 Jun 10 17:04 stats.sock
srwxr-xr-x 1 octavia octavia 0 Jun 10 17:04 status.sock

This appears to only happen when the service is started on install.

Is this something I should pursue here or with the charm folk?
