how to add packages to snap version of octave?

How can I install packages? E.g., normally “pkg install -forge <package>” works, but not for snap version.

You can install packages that don't have any compiled code. For example geometry or symbolic.

Most packages need to be compiled when they are installed, and compiling with gcc is currently not working in the Octave snap. This is most of the reason why the snap is marked "beta".
