I rewrote the program to avoid removal by deprecation

Asked by Christian Kranz

Hello,

"obmenu" is highly deprecated and other distros are about to remove it. The original author seems to have it orphaned. To avoid removal by deprecation I rewrote the program entirely without any deprecated interface/package dependency.

You can find it here:
https://github.com/0x10/obmenu2

Can you please tell me what is the best strategy to replace the old obmenu with the new one?

Thank you very much!

Kind regards
Christian

You could report a bug with your new package as a solution. I'm sure there is a way to request a new package be added to the repos but I can't find it today

Ubuntu is taking over packages from Debian, so you should also inform Debian about your new version.

And the link to the document how to request a new package for Ubuntu:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/NewPackages

Can you help with this problem?
