Why is nvidia-prime a recommended dependency of nvidia-384?

Asked by David Gu

Why is nvidia-prime a recommended dependency of nvidia-384? Graphics switching seems to only be useful for laptops or mobile devices, and nvidia-prime pulls in LightDM and sets it to default, which breaks things for non-default installs.

If you have a desktop with an integrated GPU in the CPU then you will also need it. It's not just laptops and mobile devices

Is there a reason that LightDM is a dependency?

That bit I don't know. If you suspect a dependency error then please report a bug
