how can i mount ntfs partition to be rw?

Hello,

I use Ubuntu linux 11.10 and i have problem to mount hdd`s in rw mode. Can you help me to fix it. i need to use other hdd with ntfs file system in read-write mode. I have several devices in my computer.

You don't mount drives, you mount partitions. Even if the NTFS partition takes up 100% of the space on a drive you still mount the partition.

Can you give the output of:

sudo fdisk -l; lsb_release -a;

Hi Darko,

In addition to actionparsnip comment, be sure that you've installed ntfs-3g:

As it description says it is needed to mount NTFS partitions in RW mode:

apt-cache show ntfs-3g | grep Description-en
Description-en: read/write NTFS driver for FUSE

Install it by:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ntfs-3g

Thanks Hilario , fixed my problem of Ubuntu 11.10 x64 could not write to win 7 x64 partitions .
