There recently were a few bugs regarding upgrades (some fixed) in Debian, see:

  http://bugs.debian.org/672301
Perhaps this is a duplicate of one of these bugs?

It would be helpful if you could post versions of nslcd before and after the upgrade and the contents of nslcd.conf.
