How to disable notifications on Oneiric?

Asked by Gustavo Kazuhiko Rodrigues Mitamura

I am using Ubuntu Oneiric 64 bits on a Dell XPS laptop..
I know that Gnome 3 shell includes an option to stop notification from appearing if the user sets the status to busy.
How can I do the same thing? I mean, I wanted to make the notifications like from Twitter or MSN to stop appearing but without necessarily closing these services like in Gnome shell.

Thanks.

you can uninstall notify-osd and it should go. Or you can simply tell your apps to not display notifications.

Can I customize the way these notifications appear? I mean, can I place this on the bottom of the screen instead of the top? It would be a workaround, because I think these notifications are rather distracting.

you can but it involves compiling. KDE seems to be more customizable.

Can you help with this problem?
