what is the difference between nosql and mysql?

Why should we prefer nosql over mysql ? can anyone give me some useful links for preferring nosql?

this is not a question directly related with ubuntu. you can get general information easily online by googling nosql and mysql, and also some blog posts about the differences and comments from people in the field
