post trigger script keeps running during every update

Asked by Bedoah

I have a minor problem I'm not sure how to fix on 10.04 - perhaps someone can help me please?

I tried to install nicotine+ from a package... and ever since, whenever I do a system update and a post installation trigger starts, nicotine+ starts and I have to quit it before the update will continue

It's mildly annoying, and I'd like to fix it if possible

thank you

From which package have you installed nicotine... nicotine is into Ubuntu (Section: universe/net) packages and it works fine.
So please to remove nicotine from terminal type:

sudo aptitude purge nicotine

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

if you get no error on removing, then please:

Please first enable the universe repository:

Open System → Administration → Software sources → [ Tab Ubuntu software ]
enable "Community Maintained open source software (universe)"
Close and confirm the repository reload.

Then open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:

sudo aptitude update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo aptitude install nicotine

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.
You will find nicotine into Applications→Internet→Nicotine-Plus
