SSL fails in hardy

Asked by Stas Sușcov

Binary package hint: nginx

Adding `ssl on;` in you config file will give you and error like this:
---
SSL_CTX_set_tlsext_servername_callback() failed (SSL:)
---
and nginx will not start!

The problem is related to bug #186844 in libssl.
Although the required packages were built, those are not included in hardy.

You have to push libssl to jaunty's version by installing (for example) this package:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security/+archive/ppa/+build/1070801

The problem doesn't seem to be of high importance, although users who are looking for a solution to this problem will find this useful (hopefully).

Should be nice to have latest openssl build also in hardy.

Hi,

What is the sollution for Hardy?
There are no aptitude repository fixes and I don't want to install the OpenSSL source or use an .deb package of Jaunty to fix this. (when using the Jaunty package: how do I know that dependencies wont break and I can keep my OpenSSL version up to date with aptitude in Hardy?)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Michiel

A backport or aptitude hardy update solution would be nice :)
