gssd -H argument

Asked by Reza Sherafat

The man page below shows rpc.gssd has takes a -H argument which is used to process .k5identity file.

https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man8/gssd.8.html

The nfs-utils version distributed here for Ubuntu seems not to support -H and in fact not process /.k5identity file at all. Is this a bug? Or perhaps an unimplemented feature?

As context, .k5identity is very helpful for authenticating with Kerberos credentials from different realms. Is there any other way to authenticate with realm-specific authentication depdending on the target server & its realm?

Thanks!

As far as I can see the -H option was added only in a higher version of nfs-utils than currently available in Ubuntu (probably 2.5.*).

Maybe an updated version will be provided in Ubuntu 22.04, see Bug #1878601

Can you help with this problem?
