no internet connections

I tried to connect my computer to the internet by using broadband that need password and user id. while I tried to connect it wont connects at all.I am using Intel(R) Pentium(R) E5300 Dual core @2.60 Ghz Processor.
The motherboard is Inlet DG31PR(Classic Series).
distribution= ubuntu 9.10
desktop enmvironment= GNOME 2.28.1(Ubuntu 2009-10-23)
Kernel= Linux 2.6.31-14-generic
Platform= i686

Please tell me what to do..
Can I access to the internet through ubuntu 9.10 ????

Network manager>dsl> put all your info there and you should be able to connect.second way is to type in applications>accessories>terminal

sudo pppoeconf
