networkManager applet does not working in karmic

 My network Manager applet does not show any active connections....starting DSL with network applet never took place....i have to do it manually using pon dsl-provider in terminal....applet always remains inactive......i did all kind of googling ....now i m tried of it........All Hails to UBUNTU.......THANKS to people who are working on this gr8 OS...its almost 15 days ...and i didnot return to my XP ....i m doing all my work on ubuntu.....i m exploring both GNOME & KDE.....i tried win 7 too....but, its total disappointment.......

any solution for that applet is highly appreciated....

You could add a script to your startup items to run the command. Bit of a hack but will work.

Except one thing.......my network Manager applet always remains inactive( i mean no sign of active in tray icon).......neways , THANKS actionarsnip.......:)

Did you try to edit etc/network/interfaces somehow?
