the zeroconf has failed, you need to set a static ip for both sides of the connection

on the ubuntu system set:
IP = 10.0.0.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

on the windows system set:
IP = 10.0.0.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Normally there is a dhcp server in place to give IP information out but with a peer to peer system using crossover cable this is not present so you must implement static IP addresses for transmission to be possible.

Can you help with this problem?
