Asked by FilipinoMobsta

i have a compaq presario r3000 amd

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=442915&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&tmp_track_link=ot_we/prodlink/en_us/442915/loc:0&cc=us

i was messing around with it because it had a virus, then everything, and i mean EVERYTHING was deleted.

I tried to install Windows xp, but found out my cd was only an upgrade cd. Windows 98 would show an error of i tried to finish installing it, so i ditched that too.

then i successfully installed ubuntu 9.06 and somehow, i cannot connect to the internet at all. my wireless button in the front corner would not turn on, and when manually connected it via ethernet, still no internet.

what should i do to get an internet connection?, preferably wireless.

please dont use highly technical words.

i am a newbie at this.

You network adapter might not have native support for Ubuntu.
You could provide more information on your hardware by following these steps:

- Goto applications and open 'Console'
- Type 'lspci'and hit enter
- Copy the results and paste here
- on the same console type 'lsusb' and hit enter
- Copy the results here

sergio,

when i go to applications, it shows a drop down window and shows: accessories, games, graphics, internet, office, sounds&video, add/remove.

i went to add/remove and searched fro console. i cant find anything..

Sergio, in Ubuntu, the "console" is the terminal: Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal

Can you help with this problem?
