Mobile Broadband ZTE MF820 4G LTE with Kubuntu 14.04

Asked by Nibin Varghese

Hi,

I recently upgraded my OS from Kubuntu 13.10 to 14.04 and now my ZTE 4g usb stick is not working. ZTE 4g dongle used to work smoothly in 13.10 Kubuntu. After upgrading my OS to 14.04, these are the logs I see

After a lot of googling, I found this post[1]. I gave my wvdial.conf for my provider (Airtel, india) and used wvdial to connect now. It is now connecting using wvdial.
nibin@nibin-ofxlaptop:~$ sudo cat /etc/wvdial.conf
[sudo] password for nibin:
[Dialer Defaults]

Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Modem Type = Analog Modem
New PPPD = yes

Compuserve = 0
Idle Seconds = 0
Init3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","airtelgprs.com"
Eventhough it is now connecting using wvdial, I would like to use the NetworkManager support from Kubuntu for the same. Is this a NetworkManager problem or USB_Modeswitch problem or ModemManager problem?

let me know if any additional details are required.
