Getting "Failed to read classid file" from NetworkManager

Asked by Chris Moore

I have a fairly fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 - I installed it about a week ago.
Last week I was able to use NetworkManager to manage my network.
Today I tried it by clicking the icon and got "The system network services are not compatible with this version."
I tried running NetworkManager from the command line and I get "Failed to read classid file: Object not found 0.9.1.90"

I've searched various sources for these error messages and haven't found any hints as to what might be causing it.

Any suggestions?

Sorry, my mistake, the "Failed to read classid file" is not an issue.

I do still have a problem with the Network settings tool saying "The system network services are not compatible with this version."

I'm going to call this "solved" and will post another question if I can't figure out the "not compatible" thing.
