No WAP2 option in wireless security drop down menu

Asked by yvan

Hello,

I am using Xubuntu 9.10, kernel 2.6.31, when I try to connect a WPA2 personal either it is not seen or if seen the Authentication window does not propose WPA2.
If I create a connection in the connections manager I can select the WPA security option, but when I select it from the available network, the same Authentification window appears with no WPA option.
How can I fix this problem?
Thank you

It is possible that your adapter is a legacy one and does not support WPA2 at all. Therefore I recommend you to consult the manual and verify whether WPA2 is supported or not.

Without havin' checked this I think "lspci", "/var/logmessages" and "ifconfig -a" should already provide you with some information on your adapters capabilities and wheteher they were recognized by the system or not.

Can you help with this problem?
