The problem is still present on Kernel 3.11.4-031104-generic, from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.11.4-saucy, that I installed on Ubuntu 12.04.3.
Possible workaround is creating /etc/modprobe.d/asus.conf with

This enables WLAN on boot.
Neither this nor blacklisting the module make the fn-f2 combination work. The wifi LED doesn't light up either.
