I couldn't set up a VPN on my laptop.. no VPNS button on the network manager's GUI

I downloaded a bunch of pptp softwares through Synaptic manager, as I was told to do so.
but there is no button coming up on my network manager. I tried to see everywhere but there is nothing helpful
that let me get a clue on setting up a VPN network...
what shall I do please??

You may have to install the plugin..
install "network-manager-vpnc"
in Synaptic manager do a serch for vpn you will see the file in question.
