nm-applet 0.6.6 - can I manual assign Ip addresses while in roaming mode?

Asked by lordskid

Hi I am using the nm-applet to manage my network connections.

I am currently using the wireless interface of my laptop. I just use the roaming mode and everything is fine. but the problem comes when I go to my office where dhcp is off. Is there a way for me to manually configure the ip address while in roaming mode?

Hello

I use wicd network manager to do that

http://www.ubuntugeek.com/wicd-wired-and-wireless-network-manager-for-ubuntu.html

It provides the option for setting static ip / manual Ip addresses for a wireless connection.

Regards

Thanks for the reply. I assume that this can use dhcp or static ip depending on the profile. I thought I was having problems and had to restart to windows to download network manager. but it seems that What the system really needs is a restart after the installation.

Thanks mr. Bhavani.
