Network Manager deleted

hi i am using ubuntu 10.10. the network manager icon just disappeared.. now i can not connect my laptop to the internet for downloading network manager through ubuntu software centre. how can i install it anyway? or what else should i do to establish a wireless internet connection at my home?

Maverick has about 14 days of support left in it. I suggest you wip Maverick out and install a clean install of Precise (Ubuntu 12.04).

If the system is a laptop, you could use a wired connection and reinstall the packages for network manager.

sorry i dont even know what maverick is.
In setting up a wired network how do i know the details to enter..for example cloned mac address and port etc.
Somebody told me that my wireless lan drivers are deleted. How do i reinstall them?

Maverick is the codename for Ubuntu 10.10. I suggest you format maverick off the system and install Precise, it will give the latest packages and may help your issue
