Reason about so strict dependency from libhdf5-1.8.4 instead of just 1.8

Hi, I' m trying to backport newer version of libhdf5 from trusty to precise but netcdf depends strictly from Precise version 1.8.4.
Is it just a form of conservative approach or there is a specific reason to not have a deps from just a 1.8 version ?

There might be a dependency in netcdf on a specific version of the .so files, maybe libhdf5.so.6 (precise, 1.8.4) versus libhdf5.so.7 (quantal and later, 1.8.8 and higher).

If that blocks your work, you might consider also backporting the trusty version of netcdf to precise.
