Launcher in Ubuntu Netbook Edition

Asked by Amanda Hedge

I just put Ubuntu on my netbook. This version of Ubuntu has a sidebar with icons for applications, instead of shortcuts on the desktop or the bottom bar for minimized windows. I think it's called the launcher. I want to know how to add applications to it, or make any changes to position or style.

That works for applications that I get from Ubuntu. It's not working for others though, like Floola. Is there another way?
