File Sharing netbook remix 10.10

Asked by Rod Gallant

Greetings,

I have an HP110/3000ca netbook running Ubuntu 10.10 netbook. I am connected to the internet wireless through an apple time capsule (no Problem). I can connect to wifi printer (no problem).

When I first run 10.10 netbook, I was able to see other devices and shared files on the network. (I think I used network connections). For the life of me I can't remember.
My question how to you view shared files on netbook 10.10. Is there an widget called 'places'

You can share files using samba (fast and easy) or SSHFS (secure but slower and not readily accessible by windows clients).

If you install the samba package you can then use nautilus to share the folders and other systems will be able to access them easily.

Is there a more righteous way of sharing over a local network using windows share
