Emachine em250...Won't Load Ubuntu remix 10.04 on Start Up

I have a eMachine 250 series netbook. Intel Atom, 1gb Ram, 250gb HDD. I just recently made the switch to Ubuntu Remix 10.04, and it seemed fine when I was booting off the USB, but when I installed it to my hdd. It will not load, Any help will be appreciated. Sorry if this is a little scattered.

Do you get just a black screen by any chance/

Yes, I get the black screen that has a white bar that blinks, but nothing happens. No matter how long I wait.
