Upgrade issues from 10.04 to 10.10 Netbook version on an Asus EEE 1000HA Netbook.

Asked by Kimball

I am having issues with an upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 Netbook version on an Asus EEE 1000HA Netbook.
I used the Upgrade option through Ubuntu's "Update Manager" and followed the directions until it wanted me to reboot.
Upon Reboot I received a Error during bootup. { modprobe:FATAL: could not load /lib/modules/2.6.35-22-generic/moduels.dep: no such file or directory } (I have verified that the File and directory is present on the system.) This error shows up twice. After about 10-20 seconds the system continues booting and starts the gui and login.
After logging in I noticed that it kept the old interface application display as well as installing the new unity interface.
I also lost the ability to control my networks and wireless connection. If I attached the netbook to a LAN I get connectivity but the display does not change nor does it allow me to view my network information. As for the Wireless connection through Network Manager I can not enable Networking. Both "Enable Networking" and "Connection Information" are grayed out and not selectable.
When I attempt to view the Preferences in the "Connection Manager 0.5" it shows no interfaces or connections. (The options are blank.)
These problems occur on every boot.
So apparently I have 3or more issues with my install.

1. /lib/modules/2.6.35-22-generic/moduels.dep doesn't load during boot or the OS can't find it until boot.
2. It appears that the Upgrade did not completely remove the old interface.
3. I no longer have Network control. (Could be related to 2.) Or the system can't see my interfaces. (But allows connection through a LAN.)

Please instruct on what information is required for diagnosis. (I am a Electronic Technician specializing in Troubleshooting so I should be able to weed things out pretty quick given the right ques or information.)

Ended up performing a clean install on my Netbook. Everything appears to be functioning now.
