Any idea of when Netbeans 6.8 will be in the repository?

Asked by Marcelo Ruiz on 2009-12-21

Hi,
I just would like to know if you have any idea of when NB 6.8 will be in the repository... I don't know if I should wait for that to happen (it's my preferred way of installing software in Ubuntu), or just go ahead and download it from Netbeans.
Thanks!

Hi! that depends on the MOTUs but I believe that unless something very odd happens you'll have to wait until Lucid to find Netbeans 6.8 on the official repos. As a matter of fact in https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/netbeans you'll see that the netbeans packages aren't updated yet.
Anyway you can still install it from the official package.

Hope it helps.

One last comment, if what you are looking for is an easy way to install Netbeans 6.8 I would reccomend you Ailurus http://ailurus.googlecode.com/files/ailurus_10.01-0revision1_all.deb

Hi Federico,
Thanks for your answer. I managed to install Netbeans 6.8 downloading the installer from Netbeans.org.
I'm curious about ailurus, but I could not find a description in ailurus.googlecode.com. Would you please tell me a little bit about it so I can recommend it to people looking for an easy way for installing NetBeans 6.8?
Thanks again!

Hi again!
Sorry for my e-mail... I just found all the info... and I would give it a try.
Thanks!

Any time the MOTU's package it, for now it is really easy to install
from the website. (netbeans.org)
