According to https://github.com/neomutt/neomutt/commit/dc0d6e4249ab49f209c6e90ced2637a6b71bd8e4 it seems to me that this bug has been introduced in the original source only after focal fossa (in version 20200626), so it apparently is not there in the version for focal (but may have been in the version for groovy)

Maybe I was not clear enough in my previous statement:

The change that introduced the error was made in version 20200626 and the bug was already repaired in version 20200807.

Ubuntu focal has version 20191207 which is older than the version with the error.
Ubuntu hirsute and impish have version 20201127 and jammy has version 20211029.
So they all have a version that does not have that bug.

On Ubuntu version 20200626 was present only in groovy which is not supported any more.
