Can we get an updated version of neomutt available for 18.04 users?

Asked by Jeff Auriemma

The latest stable releases of neomutt contain a lot of desirable functionality. It would be great if we could get an updated version in Ubuntu 18.04 as the current available version is about two years old. Thanks very much for your consideration!

I suggest you report a bug. If the bug and security fixes are significant then the package will be updated sooner rather than later. Ubuntu is not a rolling release distribution and packages can be left in favour of stability. This is especially true in the LTS releases

As a workaround: It should be possible to manually install the neomutt package for Ubuntu disco (version 20180716) also on Ubuntu bionic. As far as I can see all dependencies would be fulfilled.

For details about updating versions in older Ubuntu releases see also
FAQ #3037: “no rolling release”.
