Why was ndiswrapper-source dropped?

Without the ndiswrapper-source, I cannot use module-assistant to easily build ndiswrapper for my own self-rolled kernels. Why has this package been explicitly dropped?

I have linked the bug I filed on this some five months earlier. The fix is trivial; if there's a real reason to drop it, /please/ document it somewhere.
